The population of the world is increasing gradually. But the land is not increasing. On the other hand, crop production is decreasing due to climate change. Scientists are thinking of different options to meet the food demand of the growing population. As part of that effort, South Korean scientists have developed a new type of hybrid food combining beef and rice. Scientists call this pink food, rice with meat.

Recently, a study on this topic was published in the science journal Matter. It is said that the food invented in the laboratory looks like a strange combination of minced meat and rice. This hybrid food is made by combining beef inside rice.
The study was led by Sohyeon Park, a biomolecular engineer at Yonsei University in South Korea. "It's time to think about meeting all the nutritional needs of humans from cell-cultured protein rice," he told the science website Science Alert about the study. Rice is already high in nutrients. However, this nutrient content can be increased by adding cells from livestock."
About rice with meat, he added, “This food is somewhat laborious to prepare. But this may one day reduce the pressure on food."

Researchers say this rice is cheaper, and could be a safe and sustainable alternative to meat. This rice can bring a change in the climate crisis.
For this study, scientists first coated rice grains with fish gelatin and enzymes so that the cells could increase the amount of cellular material and stay inside the rice. They then added cow muscle and fat stem cells and placed the rice inside a petri dish for 11 days.

The team then tested the composition and nutritional content of the rice. They found that the hybrid meal made from a mixture of beef and rice was tougher than regular plain rice. They reported that the new rice had significantly 8% more protein and 7% more fat than regular rice.
